Emaar Misr launches Beyout Al Kheir project in cooperation with Misr El-Kheir Foundation to be one of the biggest development projects to upgrade and develop thousands of houses in Egypt

Mohamed Alabbar: We will develop a housing unit for an underprivileged family for each unit Emaar builds in its projects in Egypt

Cairo, 10 September 2018 – Emaar Misr has launched in cooperation with Misr El-Kheir Foundation the first phase of Beyout Al Kheir Project which aims to improve the living conditions of thousands of underprivileged families in various Egyptian villages and governorates. Beyout Al Kheir is considered one of the biggest development projects funded by the private sector in Egypt.

The protocol was signed in the presence of Minister of Social Solidarity Ghada Wali and Mr. Mohamed Alabbar, Chairman of Emaar Properties, and Dr. Ali Gomaa, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Misr El-Kheir Foundation.

Emaar Misr’s launch of Beyout Al Kheir Project is in line with the Egyptian government’s directives to support low-income individuals in a way that guarantees them suitable housing and decent life, preserves their human dignity, and achieves social justice.

This project also supports the developmental role that Emaar Misr believes in and its keenness on applying the principle of sustainable development and improving the living conditions of the most underprivileged families.

Mr. Mohamed Alabbar, Chairman of Emaar Properties, said: “Our success in Egypt is based on the confidence of the Egyptian society in our projects thereby it is our social responsibility and duty to return part of this favor and we are happy to cooperate with Misr El-Kheir Foundation, a leading development organization in Egypt.”

Alabbar added: “We will develop a housing unit for an underprivileged family for each unit Emaar builds in its projects in Egypt in addition to supporting micro-loan projects for sustainable development.”

Beyout Al Kheir aims to upgrade thousands of houses in Egypt and develop the housing conditions in various Egyptian governorates. It includes building roofs, restoring walls, developing household drainage networks and connecting potable water to houses, in addition to creating income-generating projects in the field of poultry farming in the targeted governorates.

The project is based on a comprehensive study of underprivileged families across Egypt that puts into consideration factors such as the number of family members, the condition of the head of the family, geographical location, the size of the residence along with other factors to ensure that the support reaches those who truly need it.

In the framework of Beyout Al Kheir initiative

Emaar Misr finalizes the delivery of the first phase and prepares to launch the second phase.

Over 1,000 houses restored and 500 income-generating projects created in one year.

In the presence of Matrouh Governor Major General Magdi Al-Gharabli, Emaar Misr has announced, in cooperation with Misr El-Kheir Foundation, the completion of the first phase of Beyout Al Kheir initiative and the delivery of the last housing units in Alamein City in Matrouh governorate to all those eligible.

The completed first phase included the renovation and restoration of over 1,000 houses and the creation of 500 income-generating projects for the most underprivileged families in four governorates; Matrouh, Beheira, Aswan, and Qena. The project was underway in 10 centers in these governorates, with each center comprising an average of five villages, to solidify Emaar Misr’s social responsibility role by offering decent housing units and creating jobs and income-generating projects to enhance the living conditions of the most underprivileged families. The project commenced following the signing of the cooperation protocol between Misr El-Kheir Foundation, Emaar Misr for Development, and the Ministry of Social Solidarity in September 2018.

The execution of the first phase included many villages in Beheira governorate’s Kom Hamada and Badr centers, spanning a total number of 17 villages. In Matrouh governorate, work was underway in villages in Al Alamein and Al Rewaysat centers. While in Aswan, the first phase targeted Kom Umbu Center and four villages in Deraw center and in Qena governorate, work was concentrated in three centers; Dandarah, Nagaa Hammadi, and Dishna, with a total of 23 villages in Qena.

The initiative included the creation of safe homes through casting concrete roofs in all houses instead of their previous roofs made of hay, straw and newspapers, in addition to the comprehensive renovation of all houses as well as building 821 toilets and rehabilitating all toilets for each house.

Electricity works were also implemented in all houses and internal electricity networks were built for 465 homes, in addition to carrying out doors and windows carpentry for 425 houses as well as performing other carpentry works and paintworks according to need.

Cement mortar works were also carried out for walls and ceilings in the majority of homes and the insides of all houses were painted with economic paints that match the preferences of homeowners, in addition to  a unified cement paint for the exteriors of all houses, unique to each governorate. Economic ceramics were also installed in houses to guarantee a healthy and safe environment, with all houses renovated in the project not exceeding 60 m².

Beyout Al Kheir Project was not only limited to creating safe homes, but it also incorporated income-generating projects for the most underprivileged families, empowering over 500 rural women and youth who are skilled in poultry farming and who met the project’s technical conditions, with the aims of enhancing the economic levels of their families. The beneficiaries were selected based on conditions and criteria that guarantee the optimum use of their energies, resources, and ideas to enable them to make profits and integrate into the market.

The project enables each beneficiary to receive 120 laying poultry, a hutch to house them, an air hood, and a cooling cell to ensure maintaining an optimum temperature for the project to succeed, in addition to providing around half a ton of poultry feed to jump start the beneficiary’s production process and reap profits.

Cairo, Egypt—July 16, 2018 -The historic Al Alamein Hotel has officially reopened after a major facelift by Emaar Hospitality Group that would make it amongst the finest resorts along the Mediterranean.

The opening event was attended by Minister of Tourism, H.E. Dr.  Rania Al-Mashat, VIP guests, top media figures, as well as other public figures.

Situated in the picturesque setting of Sidi Abdel Rahman Bay, the hotel’s glamorous design ethos and refurbished retro-modern interiors hark back to the glory days of the 1960s, when the resort first opened.

The remodelled designs blend vintage charm with contemporary style, evoking a sense of nostalgia to the golden age of Egyptian music and cinema.

“The refurbishment of Al Alamein Hotel provides an example of our determination to offer a hotel that is on a par with, or rather superior to, world-class resorts,” said Mohamed Alabbar, Chairman of Emaar.

“We strive for nothing less than the highest global standards for our customers and our developments in Egypt including Al Alamein hotel, which its total renovation costs summed up to EGP 1.5 bn,” Al Abbar added.

While the building stays true to its rich heritage, visitors can expect modern comfort and style everywhere, from the bar and restaurants to the corridors and rooms.

There is something remarkable around every corner of the resort. An impressive assortment of black and white photographs of Egypt’s most celebrated classical actors and singers festooning columns at the lobby offer visitors much to marvel at once they walk into the building.

The hotel is also home to the renowned Umbrellas sculpture by Greek artist George Zongolopoulos, a poetic structure of steel umbrellas that stretches 13 meters into the sky, offering a dramatic reinterpretation of Abdel Halim Hafez’ classic oldie Dokko Elshamasy or “Fix the Umbrellas on the Beach”. One of the most photographed modern sculptures worldwide, the piece was first displayed at the Venice Biennale in 1995, where it drew international attention, and will now delight visitors to this glamourous Egyptian vacation spot.

The hotel also boasts a magnificent collection of art works and sculptures by a large number of local and global artists, including an iconic mosaic mural of late legendary Egyptian singer Om Kolthoum and another one featuring colourful ancient boats.

The Al Alamein Hotel is part of a thriving residential and tourist community Emaar is developing in Marassi, the company’s flagship Mediterranean landmark in Egypt.

These include several hotels already launched such as Vida Marassi Marina, featuring 353 rooms and suites overlooking the marina with a full range of modern facilities; The Address Marassi Beach Resort featuring 435-rooms and The Address Golf and Spa featuring 161-rooms, which is expected to open in 2020. It is also worth mentioning that Marassi will be home to 7 luxury hotels with a total number of up to 3,000 rooms.

Cairo, 19 June 2018: The historic Al Alamein Hotel in Marassi Sidi Abdel Rahman Bay is currently undergoing extensive renovations in line with the spirit of the time while preserving its vintage charm. The renovation focuses on reviving the period of the fifties and sixties and the sense of nostalgia for the beautiful past through various artwork speckled across the hotel and inspired by the Egyptian culture, particularly the cinema, art, and music of that period.

One of the prominent pieces of the collection is an aesthetic art sculpture consisting of tens of umbrellas suspended in the air, over 13 meters high, above the Sidi Abdel Rahman beach in a charming artistic display. This installation was named Doko El Shamasi [Anchor the Umbrellas] and inspired by the popular song Qadi al-plage [Judge of the beach] by the late Abdel Halim Hafez.

The sculpture was designed in Greece by the late artist George Zongolopoulos and is considered one of the world’s most photographed artwork. Emaar Hospitality Group has commissioned this artistic project to The George Zongolopoulos Foundation to create a replica of the sculpture to be exhibited in Sidi Abdel Rahman Bay in Egypt. This artwork carries creative artistic touches with a splendid design, calm colors, and an ethereal lighting system. These renovations will add more beauty and charm to the beach of this historic hotel, built over half a century ago. The hotel, set to be a qualitative addition to Marassi, is expected to open next July and is poised to be the most beautiful event on the North Coast this summer.
