Cairo, 1 October 2020 – In a move aimed at activating the cooperation protocol signed between Tahya Misr Fund and Emaar Egypt to implant a sustainable development plan in Sidi Abdel Rahman village in Matrouh governorate, Tahya Misr Fund is organizing throughout today and tomorrow the first humanitarian convoy to provide medical care and social support to the village, in addition to handing out foodstuffs and school supplies free of charge to the village’s most underprivileged families.

The presidential initiative convoy, Nour Hayat, also kick-started this morning to combat the reasons behind vision loss and blindness and carry out eye examinations on 500 of Sidi Abdel Rahman’s citizens at the village’s medical unit. The initiative was previously launched by President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, through which the first database is being created for a vital demographic census on vision problems in Egypt.

Tahya Misr Fund also organized this morning, in cooperation with Emaar Misr, Dukkan al-Farha Exhibition to give out 6,000 new clothing items to Sidi Abdel Rahman village’s most underprivileged families, with around 2,000 individuals benefiting from this initiative and get the opportunity to pick three clothing items that suit them.

With the looming start of the new academic year and to lift off the financial burdens of school preparation on the targeted families, 1,000 school bags were distributed to primary school students in the village, which also include school supplies.

The humanitarian convoy also provided 1,000 boxes of foodstuffs to the neediest families, under the auspices of Tahya Misr Fund’s Bel Hana Wel Shefa (bon appetit) initiative, in addition to handing out personal hygiene tools to 300 families in the village with the aim of easing the burden of living expenses off the shoulders of the people of Sidi Abdel Rahman village.

Last week, Emaar Misr and Tahya Misr signed a cooperation protocol to implement a sustainable development plan in Sidi Abdel Rahman Village in Matrouh governorate to raise the quality of life, urban, social, economic, and services indexes for the village’s inhabitants. The protocol comes within the framework of upholding Emaar Misr’s role of social responsibility and its keenness on improving the conditions of communities where it operates and ensuring the availability of services and utilities that guarantee a decent life for the area’s inhabitants. Emaar Misr is allocating EGP 20 million towards supporting the first stage of developing the infrastructure and services for the residents of Sidi Abdel Rahman Village who amount to around 4,479 inhabitants.

The cooperation protocol between Tahya Misr Fund and Emaar Misr also includes enhancing the efficiency of the health services provided to the inhabitants of Sidi Abdel Rahman Village through developing the infrastructure of the local healthcare unit and the provision of the needed medicine and medical equipment to provide distinctive healthcare services to the inhabitants of the village and the nearby towns. In addition to rendering technical support to the unit’s medical staff through organizing monthly visits by specialized doctors to treat the most common diseases in the village and carry out medical examinations of the patients.

The protocol also stipulates the renovation and equipping of “Moaz Bin Gabal” Elementary School and boosting the efficiency of its entire buildings as well as constructing a new building, furnishing classrooms, equipping a library, a science lab, a sports’ field, and a playground area. As for developing Sidi Abdel Rahman’s infrastructure, a rainwater collection and drainage network will be designed and executed in the village.
